She by lavenderpony is a poem of recollection and emergence. There is mourning, but gently written as integral in a celebration of the maturation of self. (Selected by +jsenn)

Literature Text
where is she?
i lost her
somewhere
between eleven
and seventeen.
is that such
a long time?
with so many
footsteps in
so many
directions,
it's a wonder
she still
lives here.
the scenery
as ugly as it
is, and the
conversation
so loquacious
and dull.
where is she?
darling, she
was plump
and everywhere
before she
even arrived.
i knew her
by her freckles,
each one named.
she grew an
inch with
each sleepy
stretch.
i remember
her childhood
in dusty film
and bright
camera flashes.
oh where is she?
can't i have her
again, if not
within than
maybe outside?
she points
out the fire
fearfully through
the mirror,
through the pond,
through the joy.
where is she?
